Our Commitment to Literacy

The Center for Reading and Dyslexia (CRD) is dedicated to enhancing literacy in The Bahamas and the Caribbean. We focus on literacy consulting, teacher professional development, and specialized intervention for students. Through partnerships and evidence-based strategies, we empower educators and help students succeed in reading.

Every Reader Deserves the Opportunity to Succeed

Reading difficulties can affect far more than academic achievement. They can shape a child’s confidence, a family’s hopes, and a teacher’s ability to reach every learner. At CRD, we believe that with knowledgeable educators, evidence-based instruction, and the right support, struggling readers can make meaningful progress.

Why Reading Success Matters

Reading changes more than academic outcomes—it changes possibilities. When children struggle to read, the effects can reach across subjects, confidence, motivation, and future learning. But reading difficulty does not have to determine a child's future. With knowledgeable educators, effective instruction, early identification, and appropriate intervention, we can change the trajectory.
